Overview
We are seeking a Sports Science Intern to join our team at Flomad, where you’ll collaborate with sports scientists, engineers, and data analysts to develop an ecosystem of AI and sensor-based solutions for performance enhancement and injury prevention. This role focuses not only on athlete optimization but also on mobility support for seniors and individuals with physical limitations, promoting solutions for both consumer and enterprise markets.
As a Sports Science Intern, you will work on data-driven projects, analyzing physiological and biomechanical data from wearable sensors, assisting in research and development, and contributing to personalized training programs based on real-time performance insights.
Additionally, you will engage in continuous research and evaluation of emerging AI tools to enhance productivity, staying abreast of the latest technological advancements. This proactive approach ensures our team remains at the forefront of innovation, integrating cutting-edge solutions into our workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret physiological and biomechanical data from athletes, seniors, and mobility-impaired individuals using advanced wearable sensors and AI-driven platforms.
- Research and Development: Assist in sports science research projects, exploring the intersection of AI, robotics, and sensor technologies for performance monitoring and injury prevention.
- Collaboration: Work with engineers and AI developers to test and refine sensor-based performance tools, ensuring accuracy and usability.
- Literature Review: Conduct literature reviews to stay updated on emerging advancements in sports science, wearable technology, and AI applications.
- Training Programs: Support the development of personalized training and rehabilitation programs, leveraging data insights to optimize health outcomes.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations, communicating research findings and project progress to the team and stakeholders.
- Team Meetings: Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and workshops, contributing innovative ideas and problem-solving approaches.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience or interest in, or currently pursuing a degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Basic understanding of data analysis tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or R) is a plus but not required.
- Previous involvement in sports science research projects, wearable technology testing, or biomechanical studies is a plus.
- Passion for AI, robotics, and sensor technologies applied to sports performance and injury prevention.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis methods and software tools for data-driven decision-making would be considered an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, particularly in data interpretation and project execution.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, collaborating with scientists, engineers, and product managers.
- Self-driven and enthusiastic, with a strong desire to learn and contribute to innovative projects.
- Experience: Exposure to machine learning or AI algorithms for data-driven sports performance analysis is a plus.
