Quantum Engineer Intern

Overview
We’re seeking enthusiastic and curious Quantum Engineer Interns to join the Flomad Labs R&D internship program. You’ll be part of a dynamic, remote-friendly team at the intersection of quantum, AI, and robotics. You’ll work on real-world projects researching, developing, testing, and integrating quantum-enhanced solutions.

As a Quantum Engineer Intern, you’ll research, design, and prototype algorithms that push the boundaries of what’s possible. You’ll benchmark quantum approaches against classical methods, integrate quantum capabilities into AI and robotic systems, and contribute to pioneering projects such as quantum-secured teleoperation of robots on Earth and in space.

Additionally, you will engage in continuous research and evaluation of emerging AI tools to enhance productivity, staying abreast of the latest technological advancements. This proactive approach ensures our team remains at the forefront of innovation, integrating cutting-edge solutions into our workflows. This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about AI-driven innovation and scientific discovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quantum Algorithm Development: Research, design and prototype quantum algorithms for optimization, sensing, simulation, and secure communications.
  • AI & Robotics Integration: Research and participate in the integration of quantum into embodied AI androbotic platforms.
  • Quantum-Secured Teleoperation: Collaborate on proof-of-concept for quantum-secured teleoperation of Robots on Earth and in Space.
  • Quantum Simulation & Materials: Use quantum simulators to explore new materials and support robot development.
  • Benchmarking & Analysis: Compare quantum approaches to classical methods, document performance, and present findings to the team.
  • Research & Experimentation: Engage in research, documentation, and hands-on experimentation with various platforms and cloud-based quantum hardware.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Academic background in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of quantum theory and interest in learning quantum computing tools.
  • Strong coding background, excellent problem-solving skills, and eagerness to learn.
  • Passion for robotics, AI, and the transformational power of quantum.

Strong communication skills to share ideas, challenges, and findings with technical and non-technical team members.
