As an Animal Science and Veterinary Research Intern, you will work on AI-powered tools, wearable technology, and cognition studies, contributing to breakthroughs in animal wellness while collaborating with engineers, data scientists, and veterinarians.

Additionally, you will engage in continuous research and evaluation of emerging AI tools to enhance productivity, staying abreast of the latest technological advancements. This proactive approach ensures our team remains at the forefront of innovation, integrating cutting-edge solutions into our workflows.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Animal Communication Research (Vocalization Project):

Collaborate with AI teams developing tools to interpret and translate animal vocalizations, enhancing human-animal communication.

Analyze vocalization patterns, providing insights into animal behavior and emotional states.

Ensure that documentation is user-friendly, accurate, and up-to-date.

  • Wearables for Animal Wellness:

Work on advanced pet wearables equipped with health sensors for activity levels, heart rate, and sleep tracking.

Use data analysis to assess animal wellness, informing personalized care recommendations.

  • EEG Studies in Animal Cognition:

Participate in EEG-based research to study brain activity in cats and dogs, exploring animal cognition and emotional responses.

Investigate how animals respond to stimuli and communication attempts, contributing to cognitive breakthroughs.

  • Robotic Companions for Animal Enrichment:

Support the development of RoboDog and RoboCat, AI-driven robotic companions designed for pet enrichment and mental stimulation.

Contribute to research on robotic interaction, ensuring positive outcomes for animal welfare.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Pet Projects:

Collaborate with technology and robotics teams to ensure the seamless integration of veterinary insights into projects like CAIPO, an AI-driven health monitoring system.

Provide scientific expertise to inform the design and application of animal care technologies.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Pre-vet, veterinary medicine, or veterinary research background.
  • Focus on animal behavior, health, or wellness research.
  • Interest in applied animal research and pet care innovations.
  • Specialization in animal cognition, communication, and behavior analysis.
  • Familiarity with veterinary tools, diagnostic practices, or research methodologies.
  • Enthusiastic about advancing animal care through technology and interdisciplinary research.
  • Ability to work effectively across disciplines, integrating scientific knowledge with technological solutions.
